Pledge of Allegiance recited.

Damian introduced the board members: Damian Largier. President: Naomi Risch, Vice President: Tom Newcombe, Treasurer: Sally Ripley, Secretary: Mitch Greenwald, Member at Large: Sharon Iagulli, Lake Host Coordinator: Joann Bartolotta, Membership Chair.

Secretary’s report. Copies of the 2024 meeting minutes were distributed.

Motion to accept made and seconded. Approved.

Memorials. Damian asked for a moment of silence for residents who have passed in the last year. Mike Guida, Connie van Kirk, Susan Hayes, and Bill Heffernan.

Introduction to our speaker, Samantha Parkman from NH Lakes Assoc., was made by Tom Newcombe. Sam provided information about the Lake Smart program, set up to help people make their yards less prone to erosion and intrusion. A copy of the presentation is available on the GLA website.

Swanzey Lake already has as many as 30 residents who have signed up for the Lake Smart program, and suggested the GLA do something similar. Damian and Tom will be asking for members who would like to sign up for a free, no-commitment visit – starting with the board!  Samantha also reminded us that within the 50 ft. of the lake, pesticides and herbicides are forbidden – even ‘natural’ ones!

Lake Host.  There are still spots for volunteer lake hosts. It’s flexible and fun. Recently, an invasive species was found on a boat trailer, highlighting the importance of our lake hosts. Thanks to all who keep our lake free of invasive species that can ruin our lake for swimming and boating, and also diminish property values.

AED training. Bob Englund has organized a trainer at the YMCA for the past 10 years to ensure proper use of the 3 AEDs around the lake. A refresher course is recommended every 2-3 years. This year it will be held on July 30th at 6 pm at the Chapel on the Lake. A motion to approve the $55.00/ person was made and seconded. Approved.

Financial report:   Tom reviewed the GLA financial position. Thanks to Joann’s efforts at recruiting, we have reached a long-held goal of 100 members. A copy of the financial report is attached.

A motion to approve the financial report was seconded and passed.

A motion was raised to approve increasing the GLA annual dues to $50.00 for individuals and $75.00 for families.

This was seconded and approved.

Contribution to the Nelson Town Band to play at community potluck: A motion to contribute $200.00 was made and seconded. Approved

Chapel-by-the-Lake for use by GLA for the annual meeting: A motion to donate $400.00 was made and seconded. Approved

Water Quality. Due to dry conditions last July, only a few of the inlets were tested, as many were dry. Depth clarity was a record 10 meters (very clear), but this reduces significantly after heavy rain. Testing will be repeated in early Aug. and after Labor Day this year.

A motion to hold the next annual meeting on the 3rd Saturday in July (July 18, 2026) at 10 am was made and seconded. Approved.

Meeting concluded at 11:20 a m.
                                       Respectfully submitted, Sally Ripley, Secretary
